Kansas University Men’s Basketball : Filone’s Commitment Helps Jayhawks Jump in Class of 2024 Rankings
As the bluest of college basketball blue teams, the University of Kansas men’s basketball team has had a number of major landscape-changing victories on the court and in recruiting. The addition of four-star point guard LaBaron Ferron is the latest win. According to 247Sports, Fearon was the 247th-ranked player in the 2024 cycle and was previously a committed player at Auburn. Now, he has jumped the Jayhawks from No. 29 in the team rankings to just outside the No. 10 spot.
Philon, who plays for Link Academy in Branson, Missouri, chose Kansas over Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi and Cincinnati. Philon left Auburn in April after Tigers assistant head coach Wes Flanigan left the program.
The addition of Philon doubles the size of the Jayhawks’ 2024 recruiting class. He will join Florrie Bidonga, the No. 1-ranked center in the cycle and No. 8 overall.The two players will be the latest additions to another powerhouse program. Kansas, led by former Michigan star Hunter Dickinson, brings the No. 1-ranked “Gateway to Transfers” class over the No. 12-ranked rookie class in 2023.
